The mission of the scientific journal “Ergodesign” is a coordination of efforts by designers and users of new systems, products and technologies in the field of ergonomic support of design-projects.

Journal policy

The Journal editorial policy is based upon the following principles:

  • The objectivity and impartiality in papers selection with the purpose of their publication.

  • Strict observance of Journal schedule.

Author’s material presented for the publication must meet the following requirements: theme topicality, scientific novelty of the investigation, singularity of the investigation problem and investigation methods used, high scientific and practical significance of the results obtained. Papers in English and Russian are accepted.

Materials submitted to the Journal are subjected to a primary selection for the correspondence to the stated scientific scope of the edition, general informative requirements and requirements to the references formation. In case of initial selection passing this material is sent to the peer review.

After peer review fulfillment the peer review text and a copy of the manuscript with the scientific editor and peer reader’s remarks are to be sent to the author for the improvement.

The Editorial Board makes decision independently regarding the order and terms of paper publication reasoning from their scientific significance, themes of each edition and quality of the preliminary manuscript preparation.

The ergodesign formation in Russia as a scientific direction is connected with that the subject of investigation in the field of design activities are not systems and products themselves and not only man as a subject of production, but also the agreement of man’s physical, psycho-physical potentialities and peculiarities of ergonomical systems in the course of their designing. The tendencies of ergodesign development result in the necessity of the use of methods developed and criteria in any human activity both in production, and in private life.

The application of ergodesign achievements is a significant direction in the improvement of consumer properties of industrial produce and labor conditions and standardization of requirements of this scientific subject is the most efficient means in the solutions of problems mentioned.

Safety, comfort, ergonomics, esthetics of systems under creation, products and technologies from the point of view of designing must be realized in the best domestic samples of engineering and define competitive ability of our produce in the world market.

Valery Valentinovich Spasennikov, Head of the Department "Engineering Pedagogy and Psychology", Doctor of Psychology, Full Member (Academician) of the International Academy of Human Factor Problems, Professor of Ergonomics

Valery V. Spasennikov was bornon April 3, 1956, in Kaluga, in the family of a serviceman. Having left the secondary school he entered the military college – KERTHMS (Kiev Engineering Radio-Technical Higher Military School) which he graduated from in 1979 with the qualification of a radio electronics engineer. From 1979 to 1991 he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR in different positions. And after graduation from the military post graduate courses in 1984 he passed to a teaching work.

His thesis investigation on the competition for the academic degree of PhD (Psychology), the defense of which took place in the Institute of Psychology of the AS of the USSR (Moscow) in 1985, was devoted to the problem of the professional psychological selection of automated system operators engaged in the collection and processing radiolocation information.

In 1991 after the USSR disintegration Prof. V.V. Spasennikov passed to the work in civil colleges, where his talent as a scientist-organizer in the field of practical psychology was revealed.

At the Ministry of Defensehe was a creator of one of the first experimental laboratories (temporary creative group) on the integration of research works (RW) and experimental development (ED) into RWED. Under his leadership and at the creation of the imitation-modeling training simulator complex there were applied in industry:

1.  Device for modeling and assessment of the function distribution in "man-machine" systems (No.264144, IPC3G06A15/20).

2. Device for modeling operators' group activities(No.264422,IPC3G06F15/20).

3. Device for showing radiolocation information at trace target reproduction (No.275819, IPC3G09B9/08).

In 1992 together with V.N. Abramova and V.F. Yengalychev and at the support of the Institute of Psychology of the RAS he has opened an Inter - College Faculty of Practical Psychology in Kaluga and Obninsk, where he was at the head of the Department of Organization Psychology from 1992 to 1998. From 1998 to 2004 he worked as a Deputy Director for Scientific Work and a Head of the Department of Economic Psychology of the Kaluga Branch of the Moscow Humanitarian Economic Institute.

The formation and development of Prof. Spasennikov's scientific school is connected with the foundation in Russia of economic psychology as a new branch of scientific knowledge and an academic subject. In this scientific field he has trained 12 postgraduate students for Can. Sc. degree and three doctoral students having defended their theses on the following scientific fields: labor psychology, engineering psychology, ergonomics; social psychology; management of social and economic systems; geopolitics and socium safety. Prof. Spasennikov was a manager of two All - Russian and One International Conferences on problems of economic psychology granted by the RSNF (Kaluga, 1998, 2000, 2002).
