Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
The paper describes the life of a famous Russian scientist in the field of structural mechanics, bridge construction and reinforced concrete structures, a teacher of higher education, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Nikolay Matveevich Abramov (1876-1949). N.M. Abramov taught at many universities in Russia. He actively participated in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church. After the revolution, he supported the idea of creating a Cossack state on the Don, was a member of the Military Circle, a full state councilor of the All-Great Army of the Don. After the end of the civil war, he escaped repression, as he was recognized as an outstanding scientist. In 1932-1936, he worked as the head of the Department of Materials Resistance at Bezhitsky Machine–Building Institute (now Bryansk State Technical University), and laid the foundations for a scientific school on materials resistance at the university.
